Power dept prepared bill without taking actual meter reading: Jammu MSMEs

Jammu, May 28 (KNN) Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the state, on Thursday,  alleged that power department in the state prepared the bill without taking the actual meter reading for the month of March and April.

''The power development department prepared the bills as per their own calculations without taking the reading of the actual power consumed for the month of March and April. They also charged the fixed charges and electricity duty on the inflated power supply bills,'' said Federation of Industries Jammu (FOIJ) in a statement.

FOIJ further said that despite the units in majority of the states across the country are exempted from the minimum fixed charges for three months but there no such relief is provided in Jammu till date.

In this regard, FOIJ held a meeting and urged Lt Governor, G C Murmu to intervene in to matter directing power department for the exemption of Minimum/Fixed demand charges for April, May and June.

They also requested governor to waive off the surcharges on the bill for the month of March, April and May or till the lockdown period which will provide great relief to the industrial unit holders.
