Hyderabad, Jun 7 (KNN)  Andhra Pradesh will soon enjoy a reduction in power cuts as supply will be increased to all sectors as directed by the chief minister.

“Due to several measures taken by the State Government, the Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy today directed the officials to reduce the electricity load reliefs and increase power supply to all sectors. It may be stated here that the demand has also come down due to fall in temperature and onset of monsoon,” said an official notification.

The move comes after officials from the CM’s office briefed Reddy about the power situation in the state yesterday.

While power supply will be increased to 18 hours in rural areas, load relief will be reduced from 12 hours to six hours.  However, for mandal headquarters, towns and municipalities, the load relief will be only for 2 hours in two spells.

On the other hand, there will be 24 hours power supply in Hyderabad, Tirupati, Visakhapatnam, Warangal and District Headquarters and Corporations.

Further, supply will be increased from 66 per cent to 80 per cent for all industries from 15th of this month.

Several short term and long term measures are being implemented to improve electricity supply in the state.  While 1250 MW is being purchased to meet immediate needs, 550 MW will be made available from mid-June 2013 to mid-June 2016 from Corporate Power.

The Chief Minister has also advised officials to take all measures to avert any power cuts from June 2013 to May 2014 by planning in advance and taking into account the demand from all sectors and availability of electricity from all sources.  (KNN)
