Proposed Mega textile park in Punjab to now come up in Fatehgarh Sahib

Chandigarh, Aug 27 (KNN) The Punjab government has decided to allocate land in Fatehgarh Sahib for the establishment of the Mega textile park.

The textile park that was earlier planned to come up near the protected Mattewara forest in Ludhiana was scrapped following a public outcry.

“Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann will write a demi-official letter to Union Minister of Textiles, Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal, requesting him to accept the proposal with a changed location,”said an official.

As per reports, around 700 acres in Fatehgarh Sahib has already been identified for the park. As 1,000 acres are needed, another 300 acres will be acquired soon.

A Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel Park, under the PM-MITRA scheme will help in generating employment besides boosting exports from the state.  (KNN Bureau)
