Puducherry is concentrating on development of small and micro industries: Shahjahan

New Delhi, Oct 1 (KNN) In an interaction with members of CII Southern Regional Council, Minister for Industries and Commerce M O H F Shahjahan said that Puducherry is concentrating on developing more and more small and micro industries as the potentiality of the state is high.

He said, "Innovation cafe" that has been set up by the Government of Puducherry is to encourage the ideas of students to start new businesses.

"Puducherry has a constant growth with a per capita income of 10.27 per cent which is one of the highest among all other states in the country" M O H F Shahjahan said.

He said, "With an average GDP growth of 11.8 per cent, Puducherry's growth parameter is good".

The government is giving a great thrust for tourism development and urged industry to invest in tourism and related sectors, as the State has inherent advantage in this sector, he said.

Shahjahan mentioned that Puducherry should be developed as a major hub for education, skills and training.

He urged the CII to help the government in setting up incubation centers and bring in more and more investors to the State.
