Punjab Election Results: MSMEs feel AAP will curb corruption but no major changes for industry

Chandigarh, Mar 10 (KNN) With Aam Admi Party (AAP) seeing a clear victory in the Punjab Assembly Election, MSMEs of the state have said they expect corruption to be curtailed in the state with the formation of new government however they do not anticipate any changes promoting growth of the industry.

Badish K. Jindal, President, Federation of Punjab Small Industries Association (FOPSIA) told KNN India that MSMEs do not expect anything from any political party as the burden will always be on us during crisis.

With a new government we do feel that corruption will drastically reduce which is a plus point for the development of the entire State, added Jindal.

When it comes to power supply for industries, MSMEs are critical as power rates for industries in Delhi is costly.

FOPSIA has expressed concerns over poor relations between Central government and Aam Admi Party which would eventually impact the industries in the state and inefficiency in implementation of National level policy and schemes.

As AAP is leading with majority seats in Punjab with chief ministerial candidate Bhagwant Mann showing optimism and thanking the public.

Major industries in Punjab include food processing, tractors and auto components, agro-based parts, bicycle and bicycle parts, sports goods, light engineering goods, metal and alloys, chemical products and textiles.

From an investment point of view, Punjab has also emerged as a critical hub for textile-based industries, including yarn, readymade garments, and hosiery. (KNN/ KT)
