Chandigarh, Dec 7 (KNN)  The Punjab government proposes to build and expand its industrial areas by setting up IT cities in an effort to improve industrial sector in Mohali.

Towards this, the Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) will soon establish non-polluting industrial townships in Sahibzada Ajit Singh (SAS) Nagar.

It has offered allotment of plots for setting up IT services, information technology enabled service (ITES), bio-technology (non-polluting) and technology based non-polluting/ research and development facilities.

In this regard, the state government is offering the allotment of these industrial plots.

Considering the economic growth potential of Chandigarh and the surrounding areas under GMADA in the coming years, it is anticipated that the economic growth will drive urbanization and can spur further growth.

It conceived the idea of developing a new independent and self-sustaining city to cater to this spill over of the projected growth of Chandigarh and Mohali over the next twenty years. (KNN/ST)
