Punjab Pollution Control Board assures to make streams pollutant free in few months

Patiala, March 2 (KNN) Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) has showed its members the blueprint of making Nallah (streams) clear from all pollutants in the next few months and the working of CPTs during its annual board meeting at its headquarter in Patiala.

Pankaj Sharma, Member of PPCB representing Industry and General Secretary CICU attended the meeting and gave his suggestions for the improvement of environment.

He also shared the problems being faced by Industry and also sought various relief measures from the PPCB.

Speaking on the urgency to improve the environment, Pardeep Sabharwal, Chairman MCL, said there is a dire need for all the departments to work in tandem to protect the environment and help the ecology.

Sabharwal also discussed about various steps which were taken to improve AQI and control the pollution contents of Buddha Nallah.

The cleanliness drive of Buddha Nallah was talked over, as the Chairman along with members expressed deep concern regarding bio medical waste being disposed and also its adverse effect on the environment.

Karunesh Garg, Member Secretary, PPCB gave detailed presentation of the working of PPCB in the recent past and also discussed about the budget of PPCB, which led to discussion on several key points for approval was sought from Board members.

BS Saran, CMD, PSPCL, Pardeep Sabharwal, Commissioner, MCL along with various Senior Representatives of Health Department, Forest Department, DETCs, Transport, all Municipal Corporations also attended the meeting and deliberated on the need to adopt several measures to provide better environment to society.  (KNN Bureau)
