Chandigarh, Jan 15 (KNN)  For easier movement of vehicles into the state, the Punjab Infrastructure Board is keen to set up computerised checkposts at various entry points into the state.

“Excise and Taxation Department through Punjab Infrastructure Development Board (PIDB) has decided to setup computerised interstate checkposts (CICPs) at the identified entry points into the state of Punjab through PPP mode on DBFOT basis,” said an official notice.

In this context, PIDB seeks bids from the private sector to undertake the work.

The scope of work would include development, design and construction of existing 21 checkposts into computerised integrated checkposts as well as operation and maintenance, levy collection and processing of charges from users.

The State Government of Punjab places high priority on infrastructure development in and for the State.

In view of the vast funds required for infrastructure development, it wishes to encourage the private sector to supplement its efforts in developing the infrastructure facilities by participating in the financing and/or development, operation and management thereof.

The private sector, both domestic and foreign, has shown considerable keenness to participate in infrastructure development.  (KNN/ES)
