CoE Ludhiana to provide access of 3-D printing & software to MSMEs

Ludhiana, Apr 24 (KNN) The Ludhiana based industrialists have joined hands to set up a centre of excellence to provide MSMEs access to services like 3D printing and softwares at very nominal costs,

The centre of excellence will be established at the Chamber of Industrial and Commercial Undertakings (CICU) office in Focal Point, reported TOI.

As per reports, the industry delegation met with National Institute of Design (NID) Haryana to discuss about costs and infrastructure required to set up the centre.

Speaking about the initiative undertaken by the industry, CICU president Upkar Singh Ahuja said, “Despite having huge potential, the micro and small industry of Ludhiana has not been able to make much progress as these units do not have huge funds to purchase latest technology. In view of this limitation, a group of businessmen joined hands to pool in funds and resources to establish a centre of excellence.”

“ The main objective of this centre would be to provide the best services at nominal cost to industrial units like high-end industrial & design software, 3D printers & scanners, simulation, 2D design, 3D design & development, proto typing workshop and incubator for engineering industry,” he said.

Rahul Ahuja, former president of Confederation of Indian Industry, Punjab, said, “There is dire need to provide access of latest automation and software to the micro and small units so as they can improve product quality and cut costs. The proposed centre of excellence once established will work in this direction.”

“A dedicated team will help MSMEs with design management, materials & manufacturing and social sciences, and education through participation & teamwork,” he added.

S B Singh, joint secretary of CICU, said the centre will also start short-term courses, advanced courses for degree & diploma holders by collaborating with universities & national institutes specialising in design & development projects.  (KNN Bureau)
