Introduction of green stamp paper in Punjab red-flagged by industries

Chandigarh, May 13 (KNN) Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Friday said the state government has decided to introduce green colour-coded stamp papers for the industry sector, which will facilitate early clearances of the projects for industrialists.

All Industries and Trade Forum (AITF) has opposed the green stamp paper complaining that the state government wants the industrialist to pay all the taxes and fees at the time of buying the land, whether the industry starts or not.

“There is a Right to Service Act in which it is mandatory to give permission to all the departments in one to two weeks, but then the businessmen have to struggle for months,” pointed out Badish Jindal, National President, AITF.

Industries will not benefit from changing the colour as the departments will always have the right to object, he said.

Explaining industry sentiments Jindal further said it was expected that the government would waive off all the change land use and other fees, but on the contrary, the government is asking for everything in advance.

After depositing the fee, there is no provision to refund it if the industry is not set up.

Businessmen who have to take land for investment are also likely to face a lot of trouble, he said.  (KNN Bureau)
