Ludhiana’s dyeing units incurring heavy losses due to forced shutdown
Ludhiana, July 14 (KNN) Due to the forced shutdown of Ludhiana’s dyeing units, the industry has begun to incur huge losses, according to a report in the TOI.
In a setback for the dyeing industry, the forced shutdown of units continued for the third day in a row on Wednesday as the administration did not give green signal to dyeing factories to start operations.
As per reports, the businessmen are urging the administration to find out a solution wherein certain dyeing units can be allowed to operate partially instead of complete shutdown.
The complete shutdown was imposed by the city’s administration in wake of the flood alert and rising levels of Buddah Nullah due to excessing rains in the region.
Speaking on the issue, Ashok Makkar, president of Punjab Dyers Association (PDA), said “It is third day today when all 350 dyeing units of Ludhiana are completely shut due to the orders issued by the administration in wake of the flood alert. There is no doubt that entire dyeing industry stands united in this cause with the administration and government but some remedy needs to be found for allowing at least some if not all dyeing units because with every passing day the losses of our industry are increasing”
He emphasized that the dyeing industry is currently grappling with significant challenges. Should the shutdown persist for an extended period, the dyeing units will undoubtedly suffer irreparable damage.
Meanwhile another incident jolted the dyeing industry today, as water from Buddah Nullah started entering 50 MLD Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) located at Tajpur Road, but timely action by the industrialist with help of others prevented a tragedy from happening. (KNN Bureau)
