Rajasthan food processing industry demands additional sops from govt to persuade investors

Ajmer, Sep 30 (KNN) The domestic industries in the state are getting the basic incentives that they are supposed to get under the Mega Food Park project of the government, but there is a need for additional sops to woo investors from other states, a senior official from Greentech Mega Food Park Pvt Ltd in Roopangarh told KNN.

Greentech Mega Food Park Project is spread across 75.74 acres Located in Roopangarh village of Kishangarh Block, District Ajmer, Rajasthan. The Secretary, Food Processing Industries, Avinash K Srivastava visited Jaipur and Ajmer on Thursday.

He had meeting with the Chief Secretary, Government of Rajasthan wherein Commissioner Industries, Additional Director Industries, SPV/promoters of M/s Greentech Mega Food Park Pvt. Ltd., representatives of Programme Management Agency (Grant Thornton India LLP) and PMC (IL&FS) were also present.

Secretary, FPI briefed Chief Secretary about the Greentech Mega Food Park being set up at Roopangarh, District Ajmer, Rajasthan.

He also mentioned about the schemes being implemented by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries including integrated cold chain and SAMPADA and suggested that the entrepreneurs of the state may take advantage of these schemes.

He also requested Government of Rajasthan for providing special incentive package to the food processing units being set up in the Mega Food Park.

Srivastava also visited the Mega Food Park site located at Rupangarh Village, Ajmer District, Rajasthan and reviewed the progress of the implementation of the project.

This project is expected to be operationalized by March, 2017. SPV informed that 12.09 acres of land have already been allotted to four units in the Mega Food Park.

Talking to KNN, Bodhi Satva Senior Official from Greentech Mega Food Park, Roopangarh, said, “The Secretary reviewed the progress of the project here. We discussed certain issues related to water availability and land conversion with him.”

The industry here has demanded some special or customized incentives from the government for the potential investors willing to set up units here, he added.

The government is providing incentives to the MSMEs and they are even getting ease finance as under the MSME Policy of State, Scheme of Union Ministry of Food Processing and through NABARD.

For small units with investments upto Rs five to ten lakhs, there are also readymade industrial sheds of approximately 150 sq mt and on plug and play basis, Satva pointed.

So far four units are already set up in the food park have been set up in the Greentech Mega Food Park and four more units would soon be set up, Satva added. (KNN Bureau)
