Rajasthan industries protest against fuel surcharges of discoms

Jaipur, May 26 (KNN) The United Council of Rajasthan Industries (UCORI) on Thursday protested against the special fuel surcharge being imposed by the discoms.
Chairmanship of UCORI and president of Vishwakarma Industries Association, Tarachand Chaudhary said that discoms are imposing 52 paisa fuel surcharge including special surcharge of 7 paise.
“Due to the imposition of the entire outstanding surcharge together, the cumulative amount has become so large it is more than the electricity consumption of the industries,” he said.
Chaudhary pointed out that the industrial units in the state are not in position to deposit the bill and because of the fuel surcharge it is becoming difficult for the businessmen to run their units.
Earlier this month, the Rajasthan High Court had issued notices to Rajasthan Electricity Regulatory Commission (RERC), Ajmer Discom, Ajmer Vidyut Vitaran Nigam Ltd. (AVVNL) and the energy department while hearing a petition challenging the special fuel surcharge by AVVNL and Ajmer Discom in the wake of the order passed by RERC. (KNN Bureau)
