Rath Yatra Handloom Expo underway in Bhubaneswar till July 20

Bhubaneswar, July 5 (KNN) The special Handloom Expo organised by the Directorate of Textiles, Odisha is underway in Bhubaneswar till July 20.

The expo is being held on the occasion of Rath Yatra under POHI-2022-23 funds to boost up the sales and provide regular employment to the weaver members of the PWCS/SHGs.

The event was inaugurated by Rita Sahu, Hon’ble Minister, Handlooms, Textiles & Handicrafts Department, Govt. of Odisha.

Key persons present at the event were Subha Sharma, Commissioner-cum-Secretary, HT&H Department and Sushant Kumar Dash, Director of Textiles & Handlooms, Odisha.

The Rath Yatra expo was coordinated by the Member Secretary & CEO of the State Agency for Development of Handloom Clusters (SADHAC), Bhubaneswar.

A total of 34 kiosk have been installed in which PWCS of Baragrh, Cuttack, Sonepur, Athagarh, Baripada, Khurda, Nayagarh, Kalahandi, Bolangir and Boudh Zone are showcasing and selling their products.

The fair provides a platform to customers to buy handloom products from all over the state at a reasonable price with a 10 per cent government rebate.

More than 994 weavers/organizations and handicrafts artisans have participated in the various fairs organised by the Odisha Handlooms, Textiles and Handicraft Department from October last year. These fairs have been successful in achieving sales of Rs.1028.65 lakh.

Besides, the food stalls in the fair sold Rs.179.82 lakh and 15 numbers of cultural programs were also organised during the aforesaid period.  (KNN Bureau)
