Srinagar, Oct 21 (KNN)  In order to modernise training institutions, the government of Jammu and Kashmir proposes to upgrade the Industrial Training Institute Anantnag, under the project called 'Reforms and Improvement in Vocational Training Services.'

It is a project of the Directorate of Technical Education Jammu & Kashmir, implementing Craftsmen Training scheme sponsored by Director General Employment & Training (DGE&T) New Delhi.

The craftsmen scheme was introduced by government of India in 1950 and later transferred to the state of Jammu & Kashmir in 1958.

The institute is committed to the cause of developing a skill base among the youth to enable them to earn a respectable livelihood to help to create an economically viable society. It has tried to bridge the gap between the skill requirements of the market by laying emphasis on better training facilities.

In all, there are many ITIs run under different state governments. But most of them are not equipped to impart training and skills required by the industries. (KNN/ST)
