Restaurants in Kerala will not accept orders from online apps from December 1, 2018

New Delhi, Nov 30 (KNN) A bunch of restaurants in the state of Kerala will not accept orders from the online apps like Zomato, Swiggy, Uber Eats, and Foodpanda from December 1, 2018.

This has happened after the recent decision by the Kerala Hotel and Restaurant Association (KHRA) to stop accepting online orders.

Members of KHRA cite high commission and GST rates as one of the many reasons why they have decided to stop associating with the delivery app promoters.

Food delivery apps are seen as a boon for small restaurants in India.

However, now a war has started brewing between restaurant owners and food aggregators in southern India.

KHRA members, who have decided to boycott the aggregators, are worried that food delivery will do to them what Ola and Uber did to drivers.

That is they will initially help widen their reach but eventually kill their earnings, especially through heavy discounting.
