SC orders Allahabad HC to plan prompt disposal of petitions as delays affect EoDB

New Delhi, April 29 (KNN) The Supreme Court has ordered the Allahabad High Court to create a plan for prompt disposal of petitions for implementation of the order under the Arbitration Act as delay in settlement of commercial disputes has impacted Ease of Doing Business (EoDB) in the state.

Expressing concern over the delay in resolution of commercial disputes, a bench of Justice MR Shah and Justice BV Nagarathna has requested the Chief Justice of Allahabad High Court to constitute a committee of judges and invite suggestions regarding the modalities for disposal of pending cases.

"We request the Chief Justice to suggest on the next day of hearing what steps the High Court proposes to take to deal with such a situation and the large number of commercial legal disputes in the State,” said the bench.

It’s time to take corrective steps and for this the concerned High Court has to prepare a roadmap, said the top court.

Since 1993 there are pendency of order implementation petitions in the state, noted the court.

The next hearing of the case will now take place on May 18 which is about the pendency of applications filed for implementation of the order in the Allahabad High Court under the Arbitration Act. (KNN Bureau)
