Since cost of opting for solar energy is high, traders want 30% subsidy: Chandigarh Beopar Mandal
Chandigarh, May 28 (KNN) Since cost of installing solar power systems is the biggest challenge for traders and Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), Chandigarh Beopar Mandal (CBM) wants 30% subsidy for the commercial use of solar energy as it has been given for residential use.
Speaking with KNN India, Chairman of CBM, Charanjiv Singh said “At the recently held Green energy conclave to promote solar energy’ Chandigarh Renewal Energy Science and Technology Promotion Society (CREST) has urged the traders and businesses to install solar power systems on rooftop.”
But at present no subsidy was being given to people for installing solar panels for commercial use. If the administration wants to encourage traders to go for solar energy for commercial purposes so it should provide 30% subsidy to traders as well, he added.
He further added that the CREST is working to find ways to reduce the cost of burden of installing solar power systems.
Addressing the traders at Green energy conclave to promote solar at Peoples Convention Centre here, CEO of CREST, Debendra Dalai said “There are numerous advantages of installing solar power systems on rooftops.”
He said that a solar consumer becomes a generator of his own electricity, reducing the electricity bills. One can also expect a continuous supply of power in the building during power cuts.
There are several environmental benefits of solar power such as no pollution and reducing global warming, he added.
