Skill development centre to be setup in Lalpur village in Chhattisgarh

Raipur, July 6 (KNN) The Chhattisgarh government has signed an agreement with the Livelihood Business Training Center of Indira Gandhi National Tribal University, Amarkantak

for setting up a skill development centre in Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi district.

The centre will aim at imparting skill development and employment-oriented, vocational education to the women, villagers and youth of the self-help groups (SHGs) to make them financially independent.

Farmers and regional tribes will be trained in various trades by the Integrated Training Center of Livelihood Business Incubation (LBI).

The skill development centre will also be indulging in branding by preparing various products from regional produces like kodo, kutki and honey.

This will help farmers to get a fair price for their product, thus helping in increasing their income .It will also help in gaining recognition for local items of Chhattisgarh at the national and international level.

The MoU was signed in the presence of the Chhatisgarh chief minister Bhupesh Baghel.

Speaking on the occasion, Baghel said this MoU would not only work in the interest of the university, but would also work for the upliftment of the local youth and tribal population in the region.

Prof Shriprakash Mani Tripathi, vice chancellor, Indira Gandhi National Tribal University vice said, this MoU will prove to be a milestone. He said that the region is rich in rare medicinal species. Along with this, the local residents have knowledge about trees, plants, rare animals and medicines. If they work together with the university, not only will this area flourish, but this could provide welfare to the entire human race.

“The centre will conduct diploma and degree programs which will be setup by the university. Programs will include various employment oriented e-skill courses as per the guidelines of the National Skill Qualification Framework,” she added.

The centre will also provide service of market and credit linkage to the candidates who are willing to establish self-employment with help of this centre.  (KNN Bureau)
