Skill Mela to be held in Jowai, Meghalaya on June 27-28

Jowai, June 28 (KNN) The Meghalaya State Skills Development Society (MSSDS) has organised the Skill Mela at U Kiang Nangbah Government College Auditorium in Jowai.

The mela has been setup under the Skill Meghalaya Programme and will conclude on June 28.

The two-day fair was inaugurated by Jowai legislator and MCCL Chairman, Wailadmiki Shylla on Monday.

MSSDS through this event aims to focus on making youths more productive in the local economy, leading them to self-employment.

Speaking at the occasion, Shylla highlighted the importance of skill development in building up the youth with the required skill sets for achieving self-dependency and a growing career.

The event focuses on connecting job seekers with employers through the Job Fair, providing entrepreneurs a platform to display indigenous crafts and locally products and reaching-out to youths and informing them about various skilling interventions.

There are a total of 45 stalls at the fair. Around 25 of them are setup by local entrepreneurs showcasing their products.

Besides, there are 10 stalls in the Job Fair Section where 10 employers of the state are participating and offering jobs in the sectors of Banking, IT, Hospitality, Unarmed Security, Insurance, Sales, Services, Automobile and Healthcare, etc.  (KNN Bureau)
