Chennai, Apr 27 (KNN) The small businesses can now hire good designers to make their products attractive and trendy and 60 per cent of their expenses will be borne by the government.

The scheme being implemented by the National Institute of Design (NID), Ahmedabad, will enable the micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to share a common platform with reputed designers through design intervention strategies.

‘Design is an investment, not a cost’ was the slogan of the orientation programme conducted by the NID, Ahmedabad, for the MSMEs in Thrissur yesterday.
The design support is being given to the small units under the Design Clinic Scheme of the MSME Ministry.

This is the first time that such a clinic has been organised in the Stat which is expected to benefit the manufacturing competency of the MSME sector with improved products.

The Design Clinic Scheme is an initiative of the Ministry of MSME and National Institute of Design. The scheme proposes to benefit 200 industry clusters to create a dynamic platform to provide expert solutions to real time Design problems and in that add value to existing products. (KNN)
