Small-scale industries in Chikalthana incurring losses as problem of powercut persists

New Delhi, Oct 6 (KNN) Industrial sector of the region, comprising primarily of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the Chikalthana region of Aurangabad are facing losses as the problem of frequent power cut continue to haunt.

Manish Agrawal, Spokesperson of the Marathwada Association of Small Scale Industries and Agriculture (MASSIA) in a press interview informed that the Chikalthana industrial area  is suffering badly because of the powercuts that are happening on a daily basis.

He said that the frequent powercut creates an abrupt halt in the production process since both the machinery and the manpower have to remain idle when there is no power.

Agrawal informed that his association met the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company recently in which the issue was raised and discussed.

Citing the reasons for the powercut, MASSIA said that the entire Chikalthana industrial area is provided electricity by 11 feeders. Out of these 11 feeders, many have become too old and are bearing signs of weariness, because of which there could be these power cuts.

MASSIA said that for the small-scale industry, these snags are proving fatal, as the small units are not in a position to absorb the hampering of production schedule on a daily basis.

Its over a month since the problem was first reported and complains were raised, but there has not been any relief for the industries so far, MASSIA added. (KNN/DA)
