SSBC and KNC to host Bengal International Jewellery Show early 2019

New Delhi, Mar 22 (KNN) With a view to draw attention of international markets that deals in jewellery and to promote handcrafted jewellery of Bengal, the Swarna Shilpa Bachao Committee (SSBC) and KNC services are planning to organize Bengal International Jewellery Show (BIJS) in the city in January next year.

The BIJS is expecting participation of various foreign buyers from countries like USA, UAE, Thailand, Bangladesh and others in the exhibition where various handcrafted jewellery will be displayed.

The purpose of the program is to boost and encourage small-scale jewellery artisans across Bengal and give exposure to them in both domestic and international markets.

Organizers believe that the exhibition of handcrafted jewellery can bring foreign money in the domestic market as Bengal has huge potential not only in terms of skilled artisans but also in quality terms.

Further they added that large number of skilled laborers in the state migrating to other states in search of better opportunities as they are not getting the right platform in the state.

Speaking at the press conference, Subir Kumar Sen, president of SSBC, said that the main purpose of the initiative is to give a platform to the local jewellery artisans, so that they can showcase their products.

He added that the handcrafted jewellery items prepared by the local artisans are unique in look and quality both.

Exhibition, which is scheduled to take place at Netaji Indoor Stadium from January 12-14 next year, some modern machines, would also be put on display, which would help the artisans make their products more attractive and give a better exposure to the small-scale jewellers in the state, he added.
