Director of Agri Marketing S. Natarajan participated in a meeting held recently to discuss ways to improve marketing opportunities for FPOs. The state in total has 903 FPOs and very few amongst them have an annual turnover of more than Rs 1 crore.

Speaking about the initiative being taken by the state, Natarajan said the FPOs in the western districts are doing well and to further help them expand, the state government is assisting them in marketing their products on e-commerce portals such as Flipkart and Amazon.

“If FPOs form a federation, they will be supported by the state government to market, buy equipments and machinery.” he said.

In a separate meeting held in Pollachi, Coimbatore District Collector G.S. Sameeran urged bankers, farmers, and FPOs to make use of the agricultural infrastructure fund.  (KNN Bureau)
