Tamil Nadu Govt planning to come out with specific policy or mission plan to boost auto sector MSMEs

Chennai, Mar 10 (KNN) In order to spur growth of MSMEs in the auto sector in Tamil Nadu, the state government is devising a -specific policy or mission plan.

Ambuj Sharma, Industries Commissioner and Director of Industries & Commerce, Government of Tamil Nadu, said, “In the next three months, we want to come out with a Tamil Nadu-specific policy or mission plan for enhancing and accelerating the growth of the auto MSMEs.

He was addressing a CII conference on automotive R&D. He said a focus group has been set up for the above purpose after a meeting with the industry stakeholders.

According to Sharma, the prime focus areas of the mission plan will be demand creation, R &D and skill upgradation.

Support to get land and finance will be extended, he said.

Sharma also asked the industry to make use of the R&D infrastructure created through government institutions such as NATRiP.

Vikram Kirloskar, Conference Chairman, and Deputy Chairman, CII (SR) & Vice-Chairman, Toyota Kirloskar Motor Private Ltd, highlighted that India had many young talented designers to shape the future of the vehicles, by bringing in innovative designs to cater to the evolving needs of the consumers.
