Tamil Nadu Industry Minister Thangam Thennarasu invites business leaders at Davos to invest in State

Chennai, May 25 (KNN) Tamil Nadu Industry Minister Thangam Thennarasu leading the state delegation at the ongoing World Economic Forum (WEF) meeting in Davos, Switzerland has invited stakeholders to explore the investment opportunities in the state.

Delivering his welcome address, the minister highlighted the economic capacity of Tamil Nadu and emphasized on the significant role played by varied manufacturing industry to achieve the goal of USD 1 trillion economy set by Chief Minister MK Stalin.

Referring the state as an economic powerhouse, the minister said that the state contributes nearly 12 per cent of the country’s GDP with nearly USD 54 billion input from manufacturing alone.

He further said that to reach the USD 1 trillion goal by 2030, the manufacturing sector must contribute about USD 250 billion and to achieve these goals, the state government is keen to attract investment, and provide the needed skills for the workforce.

“We are keen to establish R&D centres and global centres of excellence. These innovation hubs will empower the MSMEs to grow,” he added.
