Interacting with the media, Industries Minister Thangam Thennarasu said the proposed investments would generate 8,876 jobs.

“The eight projects that have been cleared will come up in Krishnagiri, Theni and Pudukottai districts, and areas around Chennai,” Thennarasu said.

The industries minister further pointed out that more investments are coming, particularly in green hydrogen projects. After the commencement of the Kulasekarapattinam spaceport programme, allied industries will come up there.

Addressing a question on the textile park, he said there would be two projects in E. Kumarlingapuram near Sivakasi. “One project is by the Tamil Nadu government and the other is by the Union government. They have plans to set up seven mega projects, and Tamil Nadu is likely to get one,” he added.

While Tamil Nadu’s inherent strength was in the textile, automobile, and leather industries, the State had prepared itself to attract investments in emerging technologies.  (KNN Bureau)
