NIT Trichy plans to train over 2,500 unemployed and school dropouts free of cost

Trichy, May 24 (KNN) National Institute of Technology (NIT) – Trichy’s skill training hub has set an aim to train more than 2,500 beneficiaries in the age group of 15 – 45 free of cost, reported TOI.

It is offering vocational training for unemployed youths and school dropouts as part of the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) 4.0 scheme implemented under the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC).

Bhaskar Bhat, chairman, board of governors, NIT Trichy inaugurated the skill hub web portal.

The courses are developed in alignment with the current industry requirements as per National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF).

It will provide hands-on training, industry exposure, and practical knowledge.

Each training will be conducted for a period of 250 – 300 hours in different sunrise sectors such as 3D printing, solar PV design, IoT, data analytics, robotics, office executives and many more. Trained participants will be awarded certificates authorized by NIT Trichy and NSDC.

Addressing the event G Aghila, director, NIT Trichy said that the skill hub centre perfectly aligns with the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. NIT Trichy will take this forward as a long-term activity in catering for the employment needs of graduates and unemployed youths, she said.
