Tamil Nadu Secured Rs 6.64 Trillion Investments In Global Investors Meet's Final Day

Tamil Nadu, Jan 9 (KNN) The Global Investors Meet 2024 received investment pledges worth Rs 6 lakhs 64 thousand crores on the second and final day, Tamil Nadu government announced.

Investment commitments of this scale are positioned to bring substantial benefits to multiple districts in the southern Indian state. The potential impact includes the creation of 2.7 million jobs spanning various sectors.

Chief Minister MK Stalin, while making the announcement, highlighted that these investments would play a pivotal role in steering the state towards its goal of achieving a USD 1 trillion economy by the year 2030.

Additionally, he emphasised that Tamil Nadu is poised to remain a significant contributor to the Indian economy, maintaining its current status as the second-largest economy among the Indian states.

Indian conglomerates are taking the lead in significant investments, with Tata Power Renewable Energy announcing Rs 70,800 crores in commitments.

The Adani Group follows closely, revealing investments totalling Rs 42,768 crores.

Singaporean firm Sembcorp has also signed a Memoranda of Understandings (MoUs) amounting to Rs 36,238 crores.

A noteworthy Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) involves a substantial commitment from Vietnamese Electric Vehicle (EV) company VinFast, pledging to invest Rs 16,000 crores.

Notable names such as Tata Electronics, Hyundai, JSW Energy, TVS Group, First Solar, and Godrej are also part of the investment announcements.

In the past few decades, Tamil Nadu has emerged as India's automotive hub, excelling in the production of both two and four-wheelers.

The state is a major contributor to wind energy production and has made substantial strides in attracting investments in EVs and the export of electronic goods.

An impressive aspect of inclusive development in Tamil Nadu is that over 43 per cent of Indian women employed in manufacturing jobs are situated in the state.
