Tamil Nadu Secures Rs 32,554 Cr In MoUs At Investors Conclave; 49,000 Jobs Projected
Chennai, Aug 5 (KNN) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin inaugurated commercial production for four projects in Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, and Kancheepuram, involving a total investment of Rs 1,230 crore, during the TN Rising Investors Conclave held in Thoothukudi on Monday.
These projects are expected to generate employment for approximately 3,100 people.
In addition, Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) were signed for 41 new projects across the state, amounting to a total investment of Rs 32,554 crore.
These ventures are projected to create over 49,000 jobs, with 19 of the projects falling under the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector, involving a cumulative investment of Rs 265.15 crore.
Highlighting Thoothukudi’s strategic advantages—including a port, rich natural resources, and a skilled workforce—Stalin said the government was determined to develop it into an industrially advanced district.
He noted that southern industrial parks were receiving special incentives and already had ready-to-use infrastructure in place to attract investment.
Citing ongoing developments, Stalin pointed to major projects such as a desalination plant in Thoothukudi, Tidel Parks in Madurai and Thoothukudi, and the PM MITRA textile park in Virudhunagar.
Solar manufacturing units by Tata Power Solar and Vikram Solar have also been set up in Tirunelveli.
The Chief Minister also announced four additional projects specifically for the Thoothukudi and Tirunelveli districts. These include a 256-acre space park, a dedicated shipbuilding facility in Thoothukudi, and a common facility centre worth Rs 5.59 crore to support moringa exports in the region.
