TANSIM to set up 10,000 startups in Tamil Nadu over next 4 years

Chennai, April 6 (KNN) Tamil Nadu Startup and Innovation Mission (TANSIM) Sivarajah Ramanathan will establish approximately 10,000 startups in Tamil Nadu by 2026, said Sivarajah Ramanathan, CEO, TANSIM.

It is likely that the nodal agency for startups is working on a new startup policy to enhance the investor ecosystem in the state.

“TANSIM will be focussing on the existing 80 incubation centres in Tamil Nadu and taking steps to connecting them with markets and investors. It will also create a startup database as well as form a mentor network. This is to look into how many start-ups are there in each district, funding details of them and the sectors in which they are part of,” Ramanathan added.

The agency will also ensure that more startups outsides the capital city and Coimbatore get access to funding and entrepreneurship networks are promoted in colleges.

Finance Minister Palanivel Thiaga Rajan in his recent budget speech had announced the plan to set up regional Startup Hubs in Erode, Madurai and Tirunelveli to guarantee the development of startup eco-system across the state.

The Minister had also allotted Rs 30 crore for TANSIM to boost startups by SC and ST entrepreneurs and Rs 50 crore to the Emerging Sector Seed Fund to make equity investments in Tamil Nadu-based startups. (KNN Bureau)
