TANSTIA plans meeting on SME development

New Delhi, Apr 13 (KNN) The first regional conference of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) proposed by Tamil Nadu Small and Tiny Industries Association (TANSTIA), the apex body of micro and small scale industries’ associations in the state, will be organised in Tiruchi by the end of this month.

“The focus of the conference would be the development of SMEs in the region, while identifying their strengths and weaknesses,” TANSTIA Vice-President Rajappa Rajkumar told KNN.

Further, “problems confronting industrial development would be discussed and a memorandum would be submitted to the government the same day,” he said.
Chief Minister Jayalalithaa is expected to inaugurate the SME Development Conference.

The meeting will be attended by 500 to 600 delegates representing district-level small and tiny industries’ associations, product-based associations, industrial estate manufacturers’ associations, and other micro and small-scale industries’ associations in the central districts.

“The Executive Director of BHEL Tiruchi, AV Krishnan, Industry Secretary, Industry Minister and top officials of the State Bank of India will take part in the deliberations,” said Rajarappa.

Similar conferences would also be convened in Chennai, Madurai, and Coimbatore regions, followed by district-level meetings.  (KNN)
