Textile units in Delhi NCR face power shortage despite assurances of uninterrupted supply from govt

New Delhi, 27 Nov (KNN) The textile units in Faridabad and other places of Delhi NCR are facing power cuts which is posing major disruption in production.

Dr. Animesh Saxena- Manging Director Neetee Apparels- a leading garment exporter and President of Federation of Indian Micro and Small & Medium Enterprises (FISME) told KNN about this issue which is hampering the functioning of textile industry. 

Speaking with KNN on this matter, Colonel Shailendra Kapoor, Director General of Okhla Garment Textile Cluster (OGTC) said, “For apparel industry this is the peak season and we can’t afford power supply cut for even 10 minutes as that would result into damage of material and disregard of labour and everything else involved.”

“As of now there has been six hours of no power supply because of which we are facing huge loss in production,” added Kapoor. 

He further said that the smog will remain for most of the winter months but in order to curb pollution the government should look at measures which doesn’t come at the cost of textile productivity. 

The textile industrialist are pointing out to the statement given by the government authority who ensured uninterrupted supply of power. 

The industrialists urged Ranjit Singh, the power minister of Haryana to map the intensity of the impact caused by the power cuts.

It is setback for the industry which was steadily recovering from the pandemic and is now struggling for power supply.
