There's a big market for Indian handmade carpets in China: CEPC Chairman

Varanasi, Oct 14 (KNN)  A Chinese delegation that visited the India Carpet Expo currently being held here expressed confidence that the Indian handmade carpets which are of very high quality will find a good market in Yiwu City.

The Yiwu city delegation of eight members was led by Director General, Bureau of Commerce, Wang Bi Rong to study the qualities of Indian handmade carpets displayed by 303 exporters from across the country, according to an official release. 

During the discussions that ensued, Rong make a presentation about the economy and market position of the Yiwu City in the presence of the Carpet Export Promotion Council (CEPC) delegation led by its Chairman, Kuldeep R Wattal.

The first three days of the Expo being held from October 11-14 saw the presence of 350 overseas buyers, in addition to 276 buying representatives.

The Chinese delegation is expected to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for promoting and selling Indian handmade carpets in Yiwu. Wattal has expressed hope that such collaborations would give a boost to export of Indian carpets to China. 

Indian carpets will now be represented in the May 2016 show in Yiwu City.  (KNN Bureau)
