Tiruchi, Jun 16 (KNN) To encourage entrepreneurs to set up fishing net manufacturing units in the region, the Tamil Nadu Industrial Investment Corporation (TIIC) has identified few industrial areas with good potential and prospects for entrepreneurs.

According to a media report, TIIC Deputy General Manager, G Srinivasan on Monday announced that one of the entrepreneurs had set up a fishing net manufacturing unit near Manapparai, a town and a municipality in Tiruchirappalli district in Tamil Nadu,  for which the TIIC had extended finance.

Asserting that the nets were export-oriented with a growing demand for the same, he said there is a good scope for setting up similar industries in this belt.

Srinivasan also urged the entrepreneurs to take up innovative ventures for which the TIIC would extend credit.

For the current year, the TIIC had fixed a target of Rs 1,500 crore for the State including Rs 94 crore for the Tiruchi region. A large number of rice mill owners in Tiruchi and Pudukottai districts benefited from the working capital loan of the TIIC. (KNN Bureau)
