TN MSME Minister assures uninterrupted raw materials supply to matchbox industry

Chennai, April 13 (KNN) The MSME Minister of Tamil Nadu, TM Anbarasan has assured the matchbox industry of uninterrupted supply of raw materials such as potassium chloride.

He said that the State government has been planning ways to ensure that the industry gets a smooth flow of supplies required for manufacturing purpose. 

Replying to queries in the State Legislative Assembly, Anbarasan said that the government is aware of how two industrial associations in Kovilpatti and Sathur have stopped production due to the high prices of raw materials which bas impacted job opportunities in the industry. 

Taking cognisance of the matter a meeting with the stakeholders was held on April 11, he added. 

“We received complaints that the price of potassium chloride has gone up by 50 per cent while the price of vax has also risen,” said Anbarasan.

The state government has decided that vax will be bought from CPC Limited. 

The minister hinted that since the European countries have lifted the ban on exporting wastepaper the price of paper board to make matchboxes would also change. (KNN Bureau)
