To ensure last mile financial inclusion, Arunachal to get its RBI office soon

New Delhi, Dec 9 (KNN) The Reserve Bank of India will soon be opening its office in the state of Arunachal Pradesh, possibly in the capital of the state.

Eyeing at the new development, Surekha Marandi, Executive Director (ED) of Reserve Bank of India, on Friday called on Chief Minister Pema Khandu at Itanagar to discuss and take forward the proposal.

At present the apex bank is in the process of figuring out modalities for setting its office, she informed.  Once completed, the office might start in the state within a period of next three to six months, Marandi added.

With the proposal and the bank to be set in the state, the state government expects that this will ensure financial inclusion for even the remotest corner of the country.

Also with regard to connectivity for the banking activities, the RBI ED urged the state government to team with DoNER to set up the V-SATS in the areas where cable connectivity isn’t possible, in order to ensure digital support required for the bank to function. (KNN/ DA)
