Traders can register either with city corporation or MSME department: DC, Belagavi

Belagavi, June 4 (KNN) The Deputy commissioner of Belagavi Nitesh Patil has said that it is upto the trader to decide where it wants to obtain permit from either the city corporation or the micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSME) department.

He also directed the officials of Belagavi City Corporation to not make the licence mandatory and harass the traders. 

“The issue of licences should be left to their discretion as to where they can obtain them,” Patil stated. 

A few months ago the Belagavi Chamber of Commerce and Industries (BCCI) had made a presentation regarding this issue to the DC as well as the commissioner of the city corporation. 

It may be recalled earlier, the retail and wholesale traders were not allowed to be registered as MSME. 

But to help traders affected by Covid pandemic, Ministry of MSME through an official memo issued on July 2, 2021 allowed traders to register at Udyam portal. However, the registration was limited to only accessing Priority Sector Lending.  (KNN Bureau)
