Transportation, Power still a problem in Tamil Nadu: TANSTIA

Chennai, Dec 22 (KNN) Post-Cyclone ‘Vardha’, Tamil Nadu capital Chennai and other areas of the state are striving hard to get back to normalcy.

Cyclone left Chennai ruined and considering the official reports, the damage has been estimated to be around INR 10,000 crore.

According to the MSMEs, industries have been affected badly and are still facing the hard times.

It has been found that electricity is still a major issue in the affected areas.

“The major problem is electricity as still in some areas there is no electricity,” said Hariharan, President, Laghu Udhyog, Tamil Nadu.

He also added that the electrical department doesn’t have sufficient fuses or required electrical equipment.

“We are not receiving positive response from the department. They don’t have proper equipment according to the needs due to which it depend upon the areas outside the city,” said Hariharan.

K.R.G., Vice President, Tamil Nadu Small & Tiny Industries Association (TANSTIA) considered the tragedy had adverse impacts on transportation.

“Transportation is badly affected by the Cyclone, roads are still blocked with the fallen trees thus creating problems for industries processes,” said Vice-President, TANSTIA.

“Communication is the second major problem, as there are call drops. Small industries are not able to communicate with their customers,” said Hariharan.

Cyclone has added on to the problems caused by demonetization like cash crunch, ATMs not working etc.

“As the city faced the damage estimated in crore, it will take next six months to cover the loss” said by the Hariharan. (KNN/RAS)
