New Delhi, Oct 11 (KNN) Union Minister of State for Petroleum & Natural Gas and Labour & Employment, Rameswar Teli distributed the course completion certificate and appointment letter to successful candidates of Skill Development Institute, Guwahati (SDIG), in a ceremony organised at Pipeline Headquarters of Oil India Limited (OIL) at Guwahati.

Sushil Chandra Mishra, Chairman & Managing Director, OIL, senior officials of OIL, faculty and trainees of SDIG were also present at the event. The programme also commemorated ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’, 75 glorious years since India attained independence.

The Petroleum Minister congratulated the successful trainees of SDIG and appreciated the stellar role being played by the SDIG in transforming the lives of the trainees and their families.

He lauded the efforts of the SDIG, OIL and training faculty for imparting skill training in 16 trades to more than 1,000 youths annually from the North East region of the country.

“The success of the passed out youth shall also inspire other youth of the region to take up skill development courses,” said the Union Minister. A coffee table book on the success stories of the trainees of SDIG, compiled by Pragati Edutech, was also released by the Minister in the presence of other guests.

Chairman & Managing Director, OIL Shri Sushil Chandra Mishra, spoke about the various initiatives of OIL under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and said that OIL is always at the forefront in skill & capacity building of the youth from the region. Shri Ashok Das, ED (HR), OIL also addressed the gathering and spoke about the action plan of OIL to further the skill development activities in the region.

Skill Development Institute, Guwahati is a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Initiative of Oil India Limited (OIL), India’s second largest National Exploration & Production company, with support from other oil & gas PSUs under the aegis of Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Govt of India, established to empower youths of the country by providing them with skills training to enhance their employability in various sectors.
