Delhi Govt holds workshop to identify products for ODOP scheme

New Delhi, Feb 24 (KNN) Workshop to facilitate discussions on zone-wise product identification and export promotion was organised by Office of the Commissioner of Industries, Govt of Delhi in the city on February 24, 2023.

The event was held under the Chairmanship of Ranjeet Singh, Special Commissioner, Department of Industries to gather suggestions from Export Promotion Councils and Industry Associations operating in NCT of Delhi to promote exports.

Key areas discussed at the workshop included identifying zone wise products/services in Delhi, ecosystem requirements/preparation of action plan for export promotion, bottlenecks and constraints for exports, measures to scale up local exporters in the global value chain and academia- industry linkages.

Speaking on the occasion, Ravi Sood, President Badli Industrial Area Estate Association, said, “The government should focus on creating more awareness among the MSMEs about the various export promotion initiatives being undertaken by government.”

“There should be both short term and long term strategy for export promotion an Industry should be made part of the policy making ecosystem,” he said.

The stakeholders present at the workshop were also asked to provide their suggestions for identifying products/services under the ODOP (One District One Product) scheme, with the aim of finalizing the ODOP list for Delhi.

During the workshop, Robin R Cherian, Consultant at Invest India laid down the objectives of the ODOP scheme at the workshop.

“Due to India’s G-20 presidency, special emphasis is being given to the ODOP scheme to strengthen exports. In the upcoming G-20 meeting, which is scheduled to be held in New Delhi next month, products from each state would be displayed to the delegates,” he said.

The workshop also informed about other initiatives being taken up by the authorities, including setting up a Centre of Excellence and Delhi Export Promotion Council for enhancing exports from the state.  (KNN Bureau)
