Green Delhi App Receives 72,711 Complaints, 7,789 Unresolved

New Delhi, Nov 22 (KNN) The Delhi government had re-launched the Green Delhi app in October 2021 which received 72,711 complaints, of which 7,789 are pending as of November 6.

The platform for pollution-related grievances, was launched in October 2020 and re-launched in October 2021. According to the government's report, MCD received 46,450 complaints, of which 5,402 are pending; PWD has 1,002 pending out of 11,084; DDA has 463 pending out of 4,432; DSIIDC has 331 pending out of 851 while I&FC department has 200 pending out of 1,862.

In view of the pending complaints, Delhi government has flagged that five agencies or departments - Delhi Development Authority (DDA), Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), Public Works Department (PWD), Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (DSIIDC) and Irrigation and Flood Control (I&FC) Department.

They have a long list of pending complaints related to environment on the Green Delhi application. It has asked the departments to address these at the earliest.

After a complaint is registered on the Green Delhi app, environment department officials visit the spot to verify it, note the details and pass it to the department concerned. After the department resolves the complaint, its staff again visit the site for verification.

Most of the pollution-related complaints pertain to potholes, illegal dumping of garbage on the roadside, dust, C&D waste and burning of plastic waste, a senior Delhi government official said.

The data has been shared with the agencies, which have been asked to address the pendency, he added.

The prescribed timeline for resolution of grievances is two-three days.

“We have a large (area of) jurisdiction, so naturally there would be more complaints. In some cases, there is also duplication. But all complaints that have merit are tackled immediately. We are not able to take action sometimes due to court cases or disputes, leading to pendency,” a senior MCD official said.
