Industry bodies hail Puducherry Budget as progressive and growth oriented

Puducherry, Mar 15 (KNN) Industry bodies have welcomed the Puducherry Budget 2023-24 terming it progressive and growth oriented.

The Puducherry Chief Minister N Rangasamy had presented Rs 1, 1600 crore tax free budget for the Union Territory on Monday.

A. Joseph Rozario, Chairman of CII, Puducherry said, “the proposal to set up an Information Technology Park with the assistance of Software Technology Park of India will attract major IT companies to the Union Territory.”

“Revival of commercial cargo handling operations and small ship repair activities at the Port will help not only in economic growth but also aid in creating more job opportunities,” he said.

Lauding the budget, the Sedarapet Industries Association said, “This year’s budget would certainly give a fillip to the growth of industry in the region.”

A joint statement by association president G. Thiruppathy and Secretary M. Nandakumar said, “with the announcement of additional land being available for industrial growth in Sedarapet, the association looks forward to the estate becoming a hub of industrial activity.”

All Pondicherry Plastic Traders and Manufacturers Association has welcomed the government’s decision to introduce new Industrial Policy, conduct investors’ meet and increase subsidy up to Rs 5 crore.

The industry bodies have also appreciated the government’s decision to procure 70 e-rickshaws and 25 smart buses for public transportation under Smart City project as it will help reduce environmental pollution and improve local mobility.  (KNN Bureau)
