Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha Inaugurates J&K Food Processing and Wellness Conclave

Jammu, Dec 22 (KNN) The Jammu and Kashmir Food Processing and Wellness Conclave witnessed the participation of industry leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders in the hospitality, wellness, and food processing sectors to explore investment prospects and cultivate collaborative efforts on Thursday.

Inaugurated by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, the event aims to spotlight the strengths and potential of Jammu and Kashmir across diverse sectors. 

Featuring inspirational keynotes, informational workshops, and panel discussions, the conclave serves as a platform for collaboration and investment exploration.

Organised by the J&K Trade Promotion Organisation, led by Managing Director Khalid Jahangir, the conclave is poised to play a pivotal role in boosting the hospitality, wellness, and food processing sectors, aligning with the objectives of the Department of Industries & Commerce, Jammu & Kashmir.

The Lieutenant Governor highlighted the captivating natural beauty and the attractive investment opportunities offered by J&K's pristine landscapes. 
He expressed the region's dedication to providing opportunities in various fields, including food processing, vegetables, bakery production, and nutraceuticals. 

“In J&K red tape has been replaced with red carpet for industries. We are offering opportunities in various fields of food processing, vegetables, bakery production, and nutraceuticals. GI certification will help investors to create global brands and create international standards of food safety and quality,” he said.

The Lieutenant Governor noted that J&K, known as the fruit bowl of India, holds the top rank in the production of Apple, Walnut, Almond, and Saffron.

The immense potential in the food processing sector is expected to reduce wastage, transform the fortunes of fruit growers, and become a key driver of economic growth.

The conclave saw the presence of key officials, including Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar, Advisor to Lt Governor; Bhupinder Kumar, Secretary, Health and Medical Education; Vikramjit Singh, Commissioner Secretary, Industries & Commerce Department; Ramesh Kumar, Divisional Commissioner Jammu; Khalid Jahangir, Managing Director, J&K Trade Promotion Organisation, among others.

The opening day featured three panel discussion sessions where top industry and thought leaders shared their experiences. 

Discussions included topics such as 'Innovations and Progress in Food Processing: Exploring the Evolving Landscape and Opportunities,' 'J&K: Unleashing Potential as India’s Foremost Fruit Export Powerhouse,' and 'Impact of GI Certification on Agri Products.'
