Jammu, Feb 25 (KNN) A week-long mega Solar Expo is being organised by J&K Energy Development Agency (JAKEDA) at Rail Head, Bahu Plaza in Jammu.

The solar expo was inaugurated by Commissioner Secretary, Science and Technology, Saurabh Bhagat on Friday.

JAKEDA is organising this expo in collaboration with with multiple vendors of the RE industry and other line departments of Jammu and Kashmir.

Addressing the occasion, Bhagat pointed out that the initiative will immensely help in raising awareness among the people about the benefits of rooftop solar plants. 

He asked JAKEDA to organize more such awareness camps and expos across other areas of Jammu city.

The Commissioner Secretary also highlighted various benefits being extended by the Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy and the Government of Jammu and Kashmir under Grid Connected Rooftop Solar (GCRT-SPV) and PM-KUSUM schemes.

As per reports, the expo is showcasing Solar PV products to prospective consumers and providing information related to the advantages of the two Solar based schemes i.e. Grid Connected Rooftop Solar Power Plant and Solar Pumps (PM-KUSUM) being presently implemented in the UT.

Both the schemes have been heavily incentivized by the Ministry as well as the J&K UT in order to make them viable for the common masses.  (KNN Bureau)
