NIT Srinagar partners FIRST to boost start-up ecosystem in J&K

Srinagar, Feb 16 (KNN) The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar on Wednesday signed an agreement with Foundation for Innovation & Research in Science & Technology (FIRST) to promote incubation activities and start-up ecosystem in the region.

The MoU was signed between Director, NIT Srinagar Rakesh Sehgal and Ankush Sharma, Professor-In-Charge, Innovation & Incubation, IIT Kanpur.

The aim of the MoU is to promote the idea of innovation, incubation amongst students, and technical manpower so as to develop new products and technologies.

Addressing the occasion, Sehgal said that this agreement will help strengthen innovations and technology in the region.

Saad Parvez, Head IIED Centre said both NIT Srinagar and FIRST will work together on more projects. “This collaborative move will bring synergy in finding novel and innovative solutions to the problems faced by the industry in the region,” he said.

“Cooperation and promotion of incubation activities for the start-ups, in areas of mutual interest including but not limited to agri-processing, waste management, energy, defence, alternative materials, and grass root innovations,” the MoU pointed out.

FIRST, is a company incorporated under section 8 of the Companies Act, Start-up Incubation and Innovation Centre (SIIC), IIT Kanpur to promote incubation activities and start-up ecosystem in the region.  (KNN Bureau)
