New Delhi, Aug 8 (KNN) Puducherry MP V. Vaithilingam has urged the Union government to set up a textile park in the premises of defunct Anglo-French Textile mills present in the union territory.

As per reports, the mills are situated on around 100 acres of land on the Puducherry-Cuddalore Road.

In light of this, Vaithilingam appealed for Centre's intervention to establish a textile park under the PM MITRA Scheme (Prime Minister's Manufacturing, Industrial Transformation, and Upgradation Scheme).

“By leveraging the available resources and infrastructure, the proposed textile park seeks to contribute the to the development of Puducherry. The scheme's implementation will attract investment,” he said.

The PM MITRA Scheme aims to revitalise the region's textile industry and reutilise the existing buildings and skilled workforce.  (KNN Bureau)
