Unscheduled power cuts force industrial units to stop production: BBIA

New Delhi, Aug 29 (KNN) Voicing serious concerns over frequent unscheduled power cuts in the Industrial Complex of Bari Brahmana, MSME body Bari Brahmana Industries Association (BBIA) said that Power Development Department has failed to supply uninterrupted power to industrial sector since last 15 days.

A meeting was held under the President ship of Lalit Mahajan, BBIA chief where members present in the meeting said that industrial activities in the complex has become standstill since long due to which the industrial units are suffering huge financial losses.

They said “acute power crisis” is being faced by the industrial units since last 15 days with the excuses of the Department in respect of fault in the Hira Nagar Line, faulty transformer at Gladni Grid Station and other related problems.

BBIA said “in spite of our repeated requests and reminders to Chief Engineer System and Operation, no action has been taken by the department for the repair of damaged transformer at Gladni Grid Station.”

The power supply remains switched off without any intimation to the industrial units on the excuse of overloading of system, BBIA pointed.

The association said “it has been brought to our notice that the power supply to industrial areas of Bari Brahmana, Gangyal and Birpur were shifted from the Hira Nagar-Gladni line to some other line resulting frequent un-scheduled power cuts in the industrial areas resulting disturbance in the production process due to which huge financial losses have been reported by the Industrial Units.”

Besides, members pointed that the Bari Brahmana Industrial Complex is contributing  approximately Rs. 160 Crores annually for the power supply to the industrial units whereas department has  failed to supply quality power resulting financial loss to state exchequer also.

BBIA has appealed the Governor Satya Pal Malik to intervene into the matter & issue immediate orders to PDD for the restoration of 24 hours Uninterrupted Power Supply to the Industrial Sector of Bari Brahmana, Birpur & Gangyal Industrial Area.
