New Delhi, Apr 8 (KNN) The MSME sector in UP, which contributes to almost 60 per cent of state’s total industrial output, faces tough time while doing even minor modifications in their units.

The modification could even be building a separate women toilet as number of women working in the sector is increasing with the time. Or it could be a shade or a small room for the guard to save him from rain and heat.

But this is not a simple task as it seems to be. Even for any such needed modifications, the industrialists have to go through the painful and tedious process each time. Getting map approvals for the factories is a big deal and a tedious process for the entrepreneurs. The process which should be just a click away usually takes months.

Talking to KNN, the General Secretary of Noida Entrepreneurs Association (NEA), V K Seth said, “In the beginning both the parties agree with layout plan but over the time some expansions are required. For that there is a need to add few things which the authorities don’t understand.”

He said, “We have to take permission for the every single work which we want to do in our factory premises, be it boring or getting the foundation laid.”

Even after holding several discussions with the concerned departments nothing has happened till now, so “we have to shut our mouths. That’s it,” Seth said.

Similar is the case in other cities as well. Manish Goel, President, Indian Industries Association (IIA) said, “For each and every work we have to take permission.”

“For making different products, for constructing anything inside the premises, for mortgage..for each and every thing we have to wait for their nods,” Goel added.

The entrepreneur said that the industry has been demanding from the government to make the lands freehold from lease land. “We are ready to do one time investment, but the government doesn’t listen to us,” he added.

Earlier, KNN spoke to few entrepreneurs in Meerut. They too share the similar sentiments.

According to the businessmen, their maps are pending for months with the Meerut Development Authority (MDA) despite getting all the required NOCs from different departments.

The entrepreneurs, who on the condition of anonymity fearing further delay in getting approvals, said, “Our maps are pending with the MDA since many months. We have all the papers in place still they don’t give us the approval.”

KNN tried to contact various development authorities in the state, but they were unavailable for the comments. (KNN Bureau)
