Lucknow, Nov 19 (KNN) Urging the Centre to take prompt to start an air link between Varanasi and Bhubaneshwar, Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav said the move will facilitate the tourists and pilgrims to these places and would also increase job opportunities in the two cities and improve the tourism infrastructure.

Yadav has written a letter to the Union Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapati Raju Pusapati.

In his letter, Yadav has pointed out to the Union Minister that Varanasi and Puri (Odisha) were centres of attraction to not only domestic tourists but people from the world over and these two places attract lakhs of people from all across the globe.

Yadav said that if the two cities of Varanasi and Bhubaneshwar were linked together by air, it will facilitate the tourists and pilgrims to these places and would also increase job opportunities in the two cities and improve the tourism infrastructure.

He also requested, for the facility of tourists and pilgrims, the Odisha government to provide free-of-cost land for construction of a guest house in Puri. He added that in case the Odisha government provided such land in Odisha's Puri, the Uttar Pradesh Government will construct a guest house on the land.

The Chief Minister also assured that in case Odisha government ceded to his request, as a quid-pro-quo, the Uttar Pradesh Government will provide a free-of-cost land for pilgrims from Odisha in Varanasi, for it to build a guest house for pilgrims from Odisha. Such an arrangement, he added, would give fresh impetus to the tourism sector in both states. (KNN Bureau)
